INTERPROFESSIONAL PROJECTS PROGRAM (IPRO)

Chicago & Water: Challenges and Opportunities has been selected for the College of Science Dean’s Award. Students developed three different research projects, which explore today’s relationship between the city of Chicago, its waterfront and water, analyzing the challenges and opportunities presented by living near bodies of water. The research focused on urban flooding, re-use of wastewater in urban agriculture, and wave-energy generation in the Great Lakes. The team was composed of students from different backgrounds: Architecture, Biochemistry, Biomedical Engineering, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Electrical Engineering.
