ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN (CAE 468)
Architectural Design is an architectural design and planning course for engineers. Students are exposed to the basic theory and practice of the architectural design process; topics include the logical process of architectural design development, integration of code requirements, design approach, and architectural presentation techniques taught through lecture and lab instruction.
Most of the students enter the course with little or no architectural background and it is the only direct experience with architectural design that they have in the curriculum. My goal for the course has been to get students to develop a broader view and vision for design, one that is supported and enriched by their engineering background.
Below are a few examples of students’ work.
